The reason why VOL-FCR or the Alex Peper software cannot read ME4.3 DTC codes is not because of the software but the hardware i.e. In ME4.3, the signals for the engine, tranny and ECC DTCs are routed through pins 3, 9 and 13 respectively in the OBD socket. The problem is that an OBD2 cable does not have wires connected to these pins and therefore it cannot read the signals. That's why you need a home-made LED reader that plugs directly into these pins to read the signals/codes. My obd to serial cable has 16 pins (same as obd2 socket) Only generic obd readers do not have 16 pins.

Which is why they cannot read, srs,abs,climate control.
